Minnie Cannon's Back to School Night Thursday, August 24, 2023 starts at 5:30 each teacher will give their presentation twice, once at 5:30 and again at 6:00 pm. We would like this to be a parent event so that parents are able to focus on what the teachers are sharing for the year. We will have high schoolers in the library if you need to bring your child or children with you to Back to School Night. We ask that you please sign your children in with the high schoolers in the library. Thank you and we are looking forward to a great year!

We are approaching the end of our first week. Every Friday is School Spirit Day. Minnie Cannon's Colors are Blue and white. Classes have competition for the most students wearing school colors. Our students that are on our Colts football and cheer team that wear their uniforms during the football season also count in the Spirit count. Let's show our spirit.

We are looking forward to all of our students coming back to school tomorrow. School starts at 8:00, students can be dropped off no earlier than 7:30 am! Arrival Time/Drop off All students are to be dropped off in the front of Minnie Cannon Elementary Students are not to arrive at school until 7:30 AM as we have no student supervision until that time. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-7:55, students arriving after 7:55 will need to wait until second chance breakfast. All students get dropped off in front of Minnie Cannon. Please drive up to the adult to let your student out of the vehicle. Please DO NOT stop and let your child out before you reach the adult, this will cause a traffic back up. You may also park your vehicle and walk your students across the crosswalk to the sidewalk. For the safety of all students please do not walk your students to their classroom. We need to know who is on campus at all times. Departure Time/Messages-VERY IMPORTANT All messages to students from parents, will be sent through the elementary school office and must be received before 2:00 PM. PICK UP LOCATIONS TK/Kindergarten 1:00 pm Pick up will be on Knowles Lane-Side of school Mrs. Hie, Mrs. Zolensky, Mrs. Pimentel's Class pick up be on Knowles Lane-Side of school Mr. Jordan, Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Peblier and Mrs. Pullmans Classes 2:30 pm Pick up will be in FRONT of Minnie Cannon Elementary. If you have students in multiple grade levels please pick up where your lowest grade level student pick up is. All students must leave school immediately after school is dismissed, unless a supervised activity has been prearranged. 3rd- Parents picking up children should use the parking lot in front of the school. Walking home is not allowed unless the parent pre arranged it. Students will be allowed to walk home if they regularly walk home and they live very near the school. There is no playground supervision after school. Bicycles, Skateboards, Scooters, etc Skateboards and bicycles may be ridden to school, but not on school grounds. All students who ride bicycles to school, must, by law, wear a helmet. Students not wearing helmets will not be allowed to take their bicycle off school grounds, and parent contact will be made. Bicycles are to be parked in the racks provided. Bicycles, scooters and skateboards are not allowed anywhere else on the school grounds and must be parked and locked properly. Skateboards must be checked into the office upon arrival. The school assumes no liability for any bicycle or skateboard equipment. No student will borrow another student’s bicycle at any time. Bicycles should never be locked together.

Thank you to everyone that came to the welcome back event tonight at Minnie Cannon Elementary! The turnout was amazing! A special thank you to our parent booster group and the MUSD staff members for stepping up and running our tables to get paperwork signed. It takes a village and this team rocked it tonight! The energy was phenomenal! Seeing the students and getting all of the hugs and the excitement about starting school was wonderful! We are feeling very pumped and excited about the 2023/24 school year and can't wait to have everyone back for a positive, spirited and fun filled learning year this year!

Tomorrow, Friday, June 2nd is the last day of school! We have our final awards assembly at 8:15 am. School is out for all students at 12:30 pm. We have had another amazing year at Minnie Cannon. Please check the website at mc.middletownusd.org during the Summer for next years calendar and any updated information. Please check when school breaks are so that you can plan family trips around these dates. Attendance is key to learning in school! During the Summer help keep students academics fresh. Have students read, write in a journal and practicing math skills. We look forward to next school year. Students are back to school Wednesday, August 9, 2023! Have a great Summer Break!

Looking for something fun to do this summer? Middletown High School's Mock Trial Team is putting on a Mock Trial camp! This will be a senior project for five of MHS' 2024 seniors, and will be an awesome opportunity to learn what mock trial is all about!

Congratulations to our Staff Members of the year for the 2022-23 school year. Lisa Guerrero is our teacher of the year and Elma Patterson is our Classified Staff of the year.
