Lake County School Garden Collaborative (LCSGC)

Hello,

We are excited to start a collaborative between Lake County school gardens. Whether your school garden is just getting growing or is well established, we would love to share challenges and successes.

Who: Teachers (classroom and garden), volunteers and other community members interested in helping with school gardens

What: Monthly meetings to share school garden ideas focused around one topic

Where: Various school gardens locations  - Would you like to host a monthly meet-up?  Let us know.

When: 3rd Thursday of the month from 4:30PM – 5:30PM

RSVP:  Please respond to this email.  Our first meeting will likely be at Coyote Valley School Garden or Cobb School Garden (TBD). Can you join us on July 16th or is August 20th a better first meeting date for you?

First topic:  Funding a school garden

Gardens require a lot of resources. From water and soil to a variety of tools and supplies. Let’s not forget about the students and wonderful educators that teach students and help maintain the garden - it truly takes a village. Do you want to know what other gardens are doing to make it all work?  Does your school garden have a great program up and running?  Would you be willing to share what works at your site?  Maybe you would like some new information (or inspiration).  Join us to find out about funding and where schools around the county are finding local and not so local support.

Please forward this on to anyone interested in school gardens.

Thank you,

Lisa Rogers and Cindy Leonard
